Apple NameDrop

by Artie Kaye

With a recent update, Apple has added a feature which allows for quick transfer of contact information between iPhones and Apple Watches. This function requires the devices to be unlocked, users to select which information they choose to share, and thereby accepting the share request. NameDrop uses AirDrop functionality to send the data. It is turned on by default after the 17.1 iOS update for iPhones and 10.1 watchOS update for watches, however it can be turned off.

To turn it off:

Toggle the switch next to this to enable or disable the feature.

Go to Settings

Under Settings, select General

Under General, select AirDrop

Scroll to find Bringing Devices Together
