Ubiquiti Files Suit Against Journalist and Samsung is Caught Slowing Down Devices
Ubiquiti Defamation Suit
by Artie kaye
Tech firm Ubiquiti has filed a defamation suit against a reporter. The suit cites remarks from an article the journalist wrote in 2021 about a data breach at the company, saying the company was downplaying the severity of the attack. An insider who works for Ubiquity was cited as the source. Later that year in an addition to the story, he adds that a former employee was arrested for the breach. Ubiquiti alleges that the journalist knew that the insider was the later arrested individual. Their suggested motive is increased traffic to his news site and to cause harm to their business. They first reached out to the journalist to request he take the news article down, he refused. It is worth noting that this suit has been filed in Virginia, which has no laws against SLAPP suits. The truth of the matter will come out as the suit progresses.

Samsung Throttling Devices
by Artie Kaye
The Samsung Galaxy S22 is facing some troubles over the discovery that a preinstalled optimization program was actually slowing programs down. The Game Optimizing Service is a program which is described as making games run better on phones and preventing the device from overheating or too quickly draining the battery. However, it would hinder the performance of most programs that were run. In the event a benchmark test were run, the program would not throttle the functions of the device. Essentially, it would lie about the capabilities of the phone. The CEO of Samsung has issued an official apology.
